“Developing a relationship with a coach is critical. I counted on my Coach. I plan to check in with Stephy as long as I can. That relationship has been positive in my personal journey. I feel great. I’m healthier. I’ve eliminated some medication altogether, and reduced others. I work out more, and I’ve learned to eat healthy. As the tee shirts I wear these days say: “Life is Good.” It is good indeed!”
My personal journey on THWN program has not been unique. I was, like many who have put on weight over a period of many years, suddenly finding myself a bit slower in my walking, or a little more tired at the end of each day. My weight reduction efforts were not successful, at least not for long.
I had a history of heart disease in my family. Mild high blood pressure and higher cholesterol readings had been the norm for some time. I had a right Carotid Endarterectomy in 2010. My vascular surgeon commented after my surgery that I was obese! I was surprised, but we agreed that I should lose weight. Over the next 5 plus years, I bounced between 200 and 190. But, again, there was no real change in my diet.
In the summer of 2016, my new cardiologist, Dr. Jonathan Yager, encouraged me to get serious about losing weight, and asked me to consider the THWN program. After much soul searching and encouragement from my wife and family, I went to the presentation, and made the commitment to take the challenge.
On September 9, 2016, I weighed in with my coach, Stephy, at 200.2 lbs. My original target weight was 170.0 lbs. On November 2, 2016 my weight was 171.2 lbs. My wife and I departed for our home in Florida, and I agreed that I would “call in” for our appointments while we were away. Dr Yager and Stephy both agreed I should reduce the target weight to 165.0 lbs, to get my BMI in the 25 range. That was my college weight in 1964. I returned to Virginia for the December 7, 2016 appointment, and hit the target weight of 165.0 lbs. Victory!!
Stephy and I continued to talk on the phone while my wife and I were in Florida throughout the winter. In April, I weighed in again at 165.8 lbs. I continued to check in for weigh-ins and updates every 2 or 3 months. I am still doing well with the target weight we agreed upon almost one year ago.
As I reflect on this journey, what do I feel were the keys?
Any weight loss program requires a total commitment. THWN is no different. Following the program “exactly” as prescribed is required to achieve the results. There are no shortcuts. No cheating is allowed to obtain the results that are promised.
It took time to become confident in knowing I could manage my food intake to “stay” in the target range. Initially going up 2 or 3 lbs was scary. But, recording my food daily, either in an app or just on paper, allowed me to see patterns and make adjustments to get back on track.
Developing a relationship with a coach is critical. I counted on my Coach. I plan to check in with Stephy as long as I can. That relationship has been positive in my personal journey. I feel great. I’m healthier. I’ve eliminated some medication altogether, and reduced others. I work out more, and I’ve learned to eat healthy.
As the tee shirts I wear these days say: “Life is Good.” It is good indeed!
Sincerely, BG
“I thank the doctors who founded The Healthy Weigh Now® programs for being proactive in the fight against fat, to all of my fellow clients whose weight loss work has affirmed this program, to all my doctors who encouraged me to enroll by stating it’s “the best thing you can do for your body,” and last but not least, to my coach Jody who counseled me the entire way and helped me achieve & maintain my goal weight.”
I remember that years ago, at my 40th birthday check up, one of my doctors warned me that even if you only drink water, you will still gain weight. I was advised to exercise more, eat half the meal portions, learn how to manage stress, and sleep more. All these were to manage my health at the peak of my busy and demanding career path, as well as a family with two young children. Since then, despite what I had tried, I was unable to reach my goal of losing 5 lbs so many times. My last health report indicated that I was approaching Diabetes, Obese, had Fatty liver disease and other scary medical conditions. My high blood pressure medications were increased to 2 times a day and statin medication doses raised. My family doctor wrote “Try to lose some weight, exercise more” on my test results, prescribed Metformin to help me losing weight, and handed me ADA guidance for healthy eating. Then as part of that physical check-up, my Ob/Gyn was not so impressed with that advice and instead urged me to contact The Healthy Weigh Now®. Seriously, I knew I was in trouble.
When I first joined The Healthy Weigh Now®, my Fat percentage was 36.3 %, Fat mass was 53.8 lbs, and BMI was 27.1. In four weeks, my Fat percentage was 34.8 %, Fat Mass was 49.2 lbs, BMI was 25.9. The dosage of my blood pressure medication was reduced in half and then by three quarters in the next 3 weeks. The weight kept coming off without much effort. I reached my goal in 12 weeks. I even lost 4.8 lbs during an 11 day Hawaii vacation, eating all restaurant food. Then, I kept shedding another 8% of my starting weight when at home, while eating regular foods at the end of Level 3, for a total weight loss of 18.4%! My appetite was gradually reduced between meals and my energy increased to a new level I had never experienced. My cardiologist was ecstatic when my new lipid profile showed a drastic reduction in LDL and Triglycerides. My HDL even tripled. Metformin for my Diabetes was discontinued. All were achieved by eating the new right way to reduce visceral fat. I knew I was on the way to freeing myself from prescriptions.
The Healthy Weigh Now has cured my medical conditions and improved my quality of life. I have learned that The Healthy Weigh Now® weight loss program is simple and easy to maintain regardless of how big or small one’s goal. Not only did I lose the visceral fat but I also lost the frustration of trying to lose weight in other ways.
I thank the doctors who founded The Healthy Weigh Now® programs for being proactive in the fight against fat, to all of my fellow clients whose weight loss work has affirmed this program, to all my doctors who encouraged me to enroll by stating it’s “the best thing you can do for your body,” and last but not least, to my coach Jody who counseled me the entire way and helped me achieve & maintain my goal weight.
Sincerely,
MN
“After reaching my goal weight and completing level 2 (transition between level 1 and maintenance), I was ready to enjoy eating many different foods and successfully learn to manage my new weight/lifestyle. Here is where my coach became critical to my new routine. For many months, I continued to see her weekly for advice and review the food choices I was making.
Throughout the entire process, my coach gave me advice and encouragement, acting as the springboard for my success. This relationship became the lifeline that I needed to maintain the new me! After being heavy and eating poorly for much of my adult life, that lifeline anchored me, enabling me to make the best choices. I believe staying connected to The Healthy Weigh Now through my coach has been the difference in helping me maintain my success. It has been 16 months since I started the maintenance level of the program and I am still at my goal weight. My coach helps me realize that I am capable of living a healthy life and making the choices necessary to maintain that life! Thank you to my coach!”
Sincerely,
AB
“The results I received from The Healthy Weigh Now (THWN) program really surprised all my doctors (family medicine, heart, eye, and GI). Most importantly, the THWN has changed my health for the better beyond my imaginable expectations. I no longer have to take any prescription drugs for high blood pressure, diabetes, or acid reflux disease. The miracle of THWN started to happen to me after a mere 8 weeks. I became a totally different person, physically and mentally.”
The OLD ME:
I had severe diabetes for several years. My doctor doubled my Metformin dose after a year, then tripled the dose a year ago when my HgbA1C shot up to 9.6. The high dose of Metformin did not seem to lower the blood sugar enough on my daily sugar test (oh needle sting!). For several years, I have had severe bouts of painful gout and arthritis. Moving around had been an excruciatingly painful task for me. At times, I was on crutches and had to crawl to restrooms. I also had severe acid reflux disease. I had constant headaches and frequent tingling in my extremities.
The NEW ME (with THWN):
My HgbA1C dropped to 5.2 and my doctor declared me no longer diabetic. I was ordered to stop Metformin! My blood pressure dropped to the 120s/60s and my blood pressure medication stopped as well! I have not had any more issues with acid reflux! My joints are feeling better. No more tingling in my fingers either. I have been resuming my martial arts training and other sports. I sleep better and feel better. I have been able to accompany my wife on long shopping trips without having to find a chair to sit on and rest. My wife could not be any happier. In addition, I also achieved a major fringe benefit from THWN: I am 15% lighter and look better. A lot of people have noticed other changes in me as well. Perhaps because I feel so much better and have more energy, I am a more positive and pleasant person!!! A minor but nice problem to have – I need a new wardrobe (4 sizes smaller)!
“What does weigh loss have anything to do with helping all my ailments?” I wondered. I was skeptical first. After having seen the results of the THWN program and having done some research from some books (e.g., Wheat Belly, Fat Chance, Why We Get Fat?) recommended by the program, I have learned and truly believe that the right diet (THWN) actually solved my health issues in such a short period of time. No more debilitating health problems. No more prescription drugs. What a relief. I have reclaimed my active life along with the joy that comes with it.
By the way, both my wife and I enrolled in this wonderful THWN program and both of us truly enjoyed it. Our hope to live a healthy life, enjoy our time together, and take care of each other now is achievable thanks to THWN.
My health achievements would not have been possible without the courageous pioneers at THWN. I would like to express our sincerest appreciation and admiration to the THWN Cardiologist and staff. My only complaint is “where were you ten years ago?” My special thanks to my coach Michele. Her patient and wholehearted support have truly helped make my health better and my life wonderful.
Best Regards,
PN
